RailCats take advantage of six walks in first inning, beat Wingnuts 8-3
Gary-SouthShore walked away with an 8-3 win over the Wingnuts on Saturday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Wingnuts starting pitcher Anthony Capra didn’t survive the first inning. He walked the game’s first two batters, then allowed two consecutive singles. Capra followed with a strikeout and allowed a sacrifice fly to get within one out of escaping the disastrous start, but that out never came. He walked the next four batters and then allowed another single, giving the RailCats a 6-0 lead. Capra threw 51 pitches before departing.
Christian Stringer, Brent Clevlen and T.J. Mittelstaedt have two hits apiece for the Wingnuts. Clevlen hit a solo homer in the seventh inning.
