Wichita Wingnuts

Relentless Capitales beat Wingnuts 6-2

Quebec used a steady stream of hits to wear down the Wingnuts 6-2 on Wednesday night in Quebec City, Quebec.

The Wingnuts led 2-0 after scoring a pair on unearned runs in the second inning. T.J. Mittelstaedt reached on an error, moved to second on a single by Joash Brodin, then scored as Brent Dean reached on the Capitales’ second error of the inning. After a groundout and a walk loaded the bases, Brodin scored when Jayce Ray was hit by a pitch.

But that was the extent of the Wingnuts’ offense.

The Capitales scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings, two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth. All the runs came against Wingnuts starter Jason Van Skike, who gave up 13 hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings.
