Wingnuts defeat Ottawa again
Leo Vargas drove in Joash Brodin with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, giving the Wingnuts a 5-4 win over the Champions on Tuesday night in Ottawa.
The Wingnuts built a 4-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings, but Ottawa chipped away and tied the score 4-4 with a run in the seventh. Brodin opened the eighth with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brent Dean, advanced to third on a balk by Tyler Wilson and scored on Vargas’ base hit.
David Espinosa went 3 for 4 and scored two runs for the Wingnuts. His triple was part of the three-run third inning, and was the 100th in his 15-year career.
Wichita won 3 of 4 games in the series.
