Laredo takes down Wingnuts
The Wichita Wingnuts lost to the Laredo Lemours, 14-5, on Sunday in Laredo, Texas, in the final game before the American Association All-Star break.
Laredo scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, including three doubles with two outs for an 8-4 lead.
Laredo scored three more runs in each of the next two innings. Wichita’s final run came on a solo home run by Matt Padgett in the sixth, but Jeudy Valdez answered with a three-run home run for a 14-5 lead.
The Lemurs’ 19 hits were a season-high. Scott Kuzminsky was the losing pitcher for Wichita, while Ryan Beckman picked up the win for Laredo.
