Wingnuts top Canaries 6-4
Joash Brodin hit a three-run homer to stake the Wingnuts to an early lead and send them on the way to a 6-4 win over the Canaries at Sioux Falls, S.D.
Wichita struck for four runs in the third inning with two outs. T.J. Mittelsteadt doubled, then John Nester walked. Matt Padgett singled to drive in Mittelsteadt, and Brodin followed with his homer.
Sioux Falls tied it with four in the fourth inning against the Wingnuts’ Scott Richmond, who was making his second start since joining the team last week. Richmond allowed five hits in the fourth inning, but just one other base runner during his six innings of work.
Wichita reclaimed the lead in the sixth when Luis Hernandez singled to drive in Brent Dean, and added a run in the eighth when Dean singled to drive in Brodin.
