Wingnuts falter late against Sioux Falls
The Wichita Wingnuts blew a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning on the way to a 4-3 loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries on Monday in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Sioux Falls’ R.J. Perucki lined a walk-off single up the middle to break a 3-3 tie in the ninth.
The Canaries struck first, taking a 1-0 lead on a home run by Brian Humphries off Omar Bencomo in the first. Sioux Falls took a 2-0 lead on a sacrifice RBI by Richard Stock in the fourth.
An RBI single by Luis Hernandez and a two-RBI single by David Espnisoa gave the Wingnuts a 3-2 lead in the fifth. Michael Wing’s RBI triple tied the score for Sioux Falls in the ninth.
Tyler Pearson worked a scoreless ninth for the win.
The teams return to action Tuesday night in Sioux Falls.
