Brent Dean’s two-run home run in the 10th inning propelled the Wingnuts to a 6-4 victory over the Joplin Blasters on Saturday night in Joplin, Mo.
David Espinosa singled to start the 10th, then two batters later Dean hit a 1-1 pitch off reliever Jake Meiers for the lead. The Wingnuts are 2-1.

In the third inning, Wichita took a 2-0 lead when Luis Hernandez hit a double with nobody out and scored two batters later on Mittelstaedt’s sacrifice fly.
Joplin tied it up with two runs in the fourth inning, but the Wingnuts scored two in the fifth on a Dustin Geiger RBI single and an error that led to Geiger scoring.
Joplin tied it with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Wingnuts finish the four-game series in Joplin on Sunday afternoon before returning to Wichita for Tuesday’s 7:05 p.m. home opener against Winnipeg.
