Wingnuts Brent Clevlen, Kevin Hooper nab American Association top honors
It seems right that the American Association team that broke its own record for wins in a season should have the league’s top player and manager.
Wingnuts outfielder Brent Clevlen, who hit .372 during the regular season, was named the Association’s player of the year on Monday. Clevlen, 30, was in the league’s top five in doubles, home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, total bases and extra-base hits. Clevlen is the third straight Wingnuts player to win the AA batting title.
Wichita manager Kevin Hooper was named Association manager of the year for the second straight time and third time overall.
