Wingnuts’ win streak ends with extra-inning loss
Charlie Valerio’s 10th-inning double drove in the winning run, giving the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks a 7-6 win over the Wingnuts on Sunday, ending Wichita’s six-game winning streak.
The Wingnuts let a two-run lead slip away in the ninth inning when Kes Carter hit a two-run double off Seth Harvey.
The Wingnuts scored two in the first inning and two more in the fourth for a 4-0 lead, highlighted by Zac Fisher’s two-run homer.
Fargo scored four in the sixth off Wichita starter Ryan Kussmaul, but the Wingnuts went ahead 6-4 in the seventh on a two-run single by Brennen Salgado.
Wichita won the first two games of the weekend series 15-2 and 11-6.
The Wingnuts’ road trip continues with a three-game series against the T-Bones in Kansas City starting Monday.
