Wingnuts edge Winnipeg 4-3
Ryan Khoury and Brett Clevlen homered to spark the Wingnuts to a 4-3 victory over host Winnipeg on Saturday night.
The Wingnuts won their seventh in a row and 10th of their last 11 games in a matchup of the teams with the two best records in the American Association.
Clevlen’s homer, his second in two days, enabled Wichita to gain a 1-1 tie in the fifth.
Khoury’s homer put Wichita ahead 2-1.
Jake Blackwood’s homer in the bottom of the seventh tied it at 2.
Wichita struck for a pair of runs in the eighth after two were out. Jake Luce doubled then Khoury walked. Both scored on Jake Kahaulelio’s double.
Matt Nevarez picked up his 22nd save.
Wichita won for the 11th time in 13 games of its 17-gameroad trip.
