Thunder edges Rush in shootout
The Thunder finally beat the Rush 4-3 when Eric Meland scored in the 10th round of a shootout Saturday night in Rapid City, S.D.
Wichita led 3-1 after two periods with goals by Todd Hosmer, Kenton Miller and Danick Gauthier. Rapid City tied it two goals five minutes apart in the third period.
In the shootout, Nikita Kashirsky and RG Flath were successful in the first five rounds, but Rapid City also scored twice. Neither team scored again until Meland’s 10th-round shot.
