Thunder can’t find tying goal, loses to Allen on road

Allen scored an empty-net goal with 1:49 left to finally put away the Thunder 5-3 on Saturday night in Allen, Texas.

The Americans led 4-1 midway through the second period. The Thunder made it 4-2 on a goal by Martin Nemcik at 12:43 of the second period, and drew within a goal when Ian Lowe scored at 11:34 of the third.

Wichita took 15 shots on goal in the third period, but couldn’t get the tying goal.

Kale Kerbashian scored the Thunder’s first goal and assisted on the next two.

There were only six minutes in penalties handed out, all in the first period.

The Thunder allowed at least five goals for the third consecutive game. Wichita has lost eight in a row on the road.
