Thunder drop another hockey game to Missouri
Missouri scored two goals in the first 13 minutes and the Thunder could never pull even in a 5-2 ECHL loss on Saturday night in Independence, Mo. It was Wichita’s 11th loss in 12 starts.
Missouri led 3-0 midway through the second period on two goals Rocco Carzo and another from Tyler Fritz. Wichita answered with Ian Lowe’s eighth goal of the season, then he added a short-handed goal early in the third period to pull within a goal. Both goals were unassisted.
Wichita never got the equalizer, and Missouri put it away with two goals over a five-minute stretch midway through the final period.
Wichita (10-27-4-4) lost two games at division-leading Missouri (34-5-1-1) in two days. The Thunder is off until a Friday home game against Colorado at Intrust Bank Arena.
The Thunder’s Kevin McClelland coached his 700th professional game Saturday.
