Rapid City rushes past Thunder

Mikhail Stefanovich scored three goals to help Rapid City defeat the Thunder 7-2 on Tuesday night in Rapid City, S.D.

The Thunder took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Michael Neal at 3:47 of the first period, and the score was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes. Rapid City god three goals in the first 9:25 of the second period — two by Stefanovich — leading to a change in the Thunder goal as Grant Rollheiser replaced David Shantz. The Rush added another 2 1/2 minutes later and ended the second period ahead 5-1.

Dean Chelios scored the second Wichita goal at 4:22 of the third. Stefanovich completed his hat trick at 13:15.

The Thunder plays at Colorado on Wednesday, the first of three games in four nights against the Eagles.
