Quad City beats Thunder 4-2
Quad City scored twice in the final period and beat the Thunder 4-2 on Friday night in Moline, Ill.
The Mallards’ Mike Monfredo broke the 2-2 tie with his first goal of the season at 5:29 of the third period. Matt Neal made it 4-2 with a goal at 12:38.
The Thunder’s goals came about seven minutes apart in the first period and put Wichita ahead 2-1. Brandon Martell scored at 8:02 and Mason Baptista scored at 13:22 for the Thunder, but the lead was short-lived. Wichita’s Theo Peckham was sent off for tripping at 14:56, and 42 seconds later Quad City’s Raphael Bussieres scored on the power play.
Neither team scored in the second period, when the Thunder outshot the Mallards 14-4.
