Thunder defeats Rapid City 3-2

Stephen Schultz’s goal midway through the third period broke a tie and helped the Thunder beat the Rush 3-2 on Wednesday in Rapid City, S.D., and earn a split of a two-game road set.

Nikita Kashirsky scored Wichita’s first two goals. He gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead with a goal 1:42 into the first period. The Rush tied the scored in the final minute of the first period, then took a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal at 9:35 of the second period. Kashirsky made it 2-2 when he scored at 13:39 of the second period. Ian Lowe assisted on both of Kashirsky’s goals.

Thunder goalie Tyler Bunz had 21 saves.

The Thunder returns home for games Saturday against Allen and Sunday against Missouri.
