Mallards shut out slumping Thunder
The Thunder lost its fourth straight, falling to Quad City 4-0 on Friday night in Moline, Ill.
Quad City goalie Parker Milner made 26 saves in his second shutout of the season.
The Mallards scored the only goal of the first two periods, taking a 1-0 lead on Justin Fox’s power-play goal at 5:09 of the second period. Joe Perry’s goal midway through the third made it 2-0, and Mario Lamoureux made it 3-0 at 16:54. Perry added an empty-net goal with 20 seconds left.
Wichita sits in fifth place in the ECHL Central Division with 68 points. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs. Quad City (73) is third and Tulsa (70) is fourth.
The Thunder plays its final road game of the regular season on Saturday night, facing the Mavericks in Independence, Mo. Wichita finishes the season with a six-game homestand. Three of the six games are against Tulsa.
