Thunder shuts out Americans
The Thunder shut out the Americans 4-0 on Wednesday in Allen, Texas, winning for the second straight night on the ice of the ECHL Central Division leader.
Grant Rollheiser made 34 saves and recorded his first shutout for the Thunder. Rollheiser, who began the season with Brampton, is 4-1 since joining Wichita.
The Thunder took a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the first period when Justin Bernhardt scored. Nikita Kashirsky and Danick Gauthier scored in the first 3:07 of the second period to make it 3-0, and Bernhardt’s second goal of the game gave Wichita a 4-0 lead at 17:30 of the second.
Allen remains 17 points ahead of second-place Quad City in the division. The Thunder and Tulsa Oilers are tied for third.
The Thunder and the Americans play again Friday at Intrust Bank Arena, the first of three straight home games for the Thunder.
