The Force indoor football team scored 33 unanswered points Saturday night en route to a season-opening 66-44 victory over the Salina Liberty at the Bicentennial Center in Salina.
Salina outgained the Force 288 yards to 254, but the Force dominated the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.
Wichita split quarterback duties, with Emmanuel Taylor completing 4 of 10 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. Steve Panasuk completed 5 of 7 for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Clarence Anderson caught three passes for 61 yards and a score, and Ronald Davis had two touchdown catches for 55 yards.
Quentin Benning got 11 of 17 Force rushes, gaining 43 yards with two touchdowns. Taylor also ran for two scores.
Salina quarterback Joe Kassanavoid, a former Wichita indoor quarterback, completed 17 of 26 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns. He was intercepted four times, including two by former NFL cornerback Elbert Mack. He scored a touchdown on one return.
The Force plays its home opener at 7 p.m. next Saturday against Duke City, a team from Albuquerque, at Intrust Bank Arena.
