In its first season in the Arena Football Association, the Wichita Force are coming away with some hardware.

The Force dominated the Magnolia State Spartans in a 52-6 victory on Saturday at the Wichita Ice Center to capture the inaugural AFA Cup. It is the first postseason title for Wichita’s professional indoor football team since the Force won the Champions Indoor Football championship in 2016.

Wichita recently completed the regular season with a 3-2 record, competing against teams from Texas, Missouri and Mississippi. After years of playing in the CIF and at the Kansas Star Arena, this was the first season the team had competed in the AFA and at Wichita Ice Center.

The Force were led this season by dynamic quarterback Ed Crouch, a former star at McPherson College, throwing to targets like Elcee Refuge (Kent State), Wichita native Garrett Haskins (Pittsburg State), Marcel Newson, Hakin Williams and Devin Godboldt (North Texas).

The defense was led by former OU starter Jordan Thomas in the secondary and Darius Morris, who played Div. II at Carson-Newman and was named the AFA Cup MVP, on the defensive line. Other former Division I players on the roster include JuJu Offray (Oklahoma State) and Youseff Barakat (Akron).
