A group headed by Wichita financial adviser Marv Fisher will be announced as the new owners of Wichita’s indoor football team at a news conference Thursday afternoon.

Fisher declined to answer questions about the sale, but multiple sources confirmed his involvement. The team will play in the league newly merged from the Champions Professional Indoor Football League, of which the Wild won the last two championships, and the Lone Star Football League.

No further details on the sale, including the name of the team and its home venue, have been confirmed. It is not clear if the team is a continuation of the Wild or a brand-new entity.

Fisher previously was on the cusp of purchasing the team from Wink Hartman before a deal fell through earlier this month. Hartman previously said a sale was contingent on the team remaining at Hartman Arena. He put the Wild up for sale in July after he said he lost $2 million over eight years.
