Wild's Rocky Hinds named league player of year
Wichita Wild quarterback Rocky Hinds was named MVP for the 2014 Champions Professional Indoor Football League season, the league announced Wednesday.
Hinds led the Wild to the 2013 league championship and hasn't let up, going 22-4 over those seasons. He passed for 1,705 yards and 41 touchdowns during the regular season, ranking third in the league. He has been intercepted six times in 261 pass attempts.
The Wild plays host to Dodge City at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals of the CPIFL playoffs at Park City's Hartman Arena. With a victory, the Wild would host the league championship game June 21.
Wild linebacker Jason Catching was honorable mention defensive rookie of the year, while coach Paco Martinez was honorable mention coach of the year.
