Monday’s results
Cape Girardeau (Mo.) Capahas 13, Wichita Alumni 5 — Pitcher after pitcher took the mound for the Wichita Alumni, but none could quiet the Capahas. In a matter of three days, the Wichita Alumni team was eliminated from the NBC World Series by, primarily, lack of pitching — something that was expected to be a strong suit coming into the tournament.
It took the Capahas only one hit two get two runs in the first inning thanks to a pair of walks. After a solo bomb from Cape Girardeau’s Kyle James in the second, a lead-off walk resulted in a run on the next at-bat and a 4-0 lead.
Soon, Wichita got the bats going, but the pitching eventually got worse. In the seventh, Wichita’s Jared Simon gave up five runs against five batters faced — two of which were walks — without recording an out. That pushed the Capahas to a 12-5 lead. Cape Girardeau sealed the deal with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the eighth.
The Capahas face the Newton Rebels on Tuesday.

San Diego Force 11, Austin Action 3 — Austin struck first to get out to a 3-0 lead, but the pitching didn’t keep the team afloat for long. The Force dominated in the final innings before sealing a run rule in the bottom of the seventh.
San Diego third baseman Alex Cruz came through with a three-run home run in the fifth after going 0 for 4 in Sunday’s loss. Second baseman Kalani Breckenridge had two hits in the game, including a RBI infield single in the fifth. The Force will play their fourth game in four days on Tuesday against either Inland Empire (Calif.) or Puerto Rico.

Newton Rebels 11, Denver Cougars 3 — Newton jumped on the Denver early, and never let their foot off the gas. It took Denver six pitchers just to get through seven innings.
Newton relied on their bats to get their runs, unlike most teams that have tallied up run rules over the last few days. The Rebels had already notched five hits in the first — tying their total from Sunday. They came up with three more runs on three hits in the third to make it a 6-0 game before Denver even got on the board. After that, Denver was scrambling for pitchers, and never really had a chance to rebound.
