Chiefs trade OT Wanya Morris to Atlanta Falcons. Here’s what they got in return
Wanya Morris, who started 16 games for the Chiefs at tackle over three seasons, has been traded to the Atlanta Falcons.
Morris confirmed the report of the trade by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on his Instagram account.
The Chiefs are sending Morris and a seventh-round pick in 2027 for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Morris was a third-round pick, No. 92 overall, in the 2023 draft. He started his college career at Tennessee and finished at Oklahoma.
As a rookie, Morris appeared in 14 games with four starts and played in two playoff contests. He got five special teams snaps in the Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVII.
Morris got his most extensive playing time in 2024, appearing in all 17 regular-season games with 11 starts at left tackle. A highlight: a 1-yard touchdown reception from Patrick Mahomes in a Week 2 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Morris was benched late in the season in favor of Joe Thuney, who moved over from guard.
Last season, Morris suffered a season-ending knee injury on the game’s first snap in a Week 14 home loss to the Houston Texans.
The Chiefs finished mandatory minicamp on Thursday with Josh Simmons at left tackle, and Jaylon Moore, Esa Pole and Kahlil Benson getting first-team snaps at right tackle.
