Bills’ Josh Allen raves about Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ athletic ability
During an interview earlier this month with Yahoo Sports, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was asked a familiar question.
How can the Bills finally get over the hump against the Chiefs?
Buffalo has been knocked out of the playoffs four times by the Chiefs, and that’s why Allen hears the question so frequently.
“It fuels us that much more to get over that (hump) so we can stop hearing those things,” Allen said. “But It’s the game of football. It’s a game of life, really, like again, we gotta keep working hard. We can’t throw in the towel. We gotta keep working until we find a way. And we’re gonna go up, we’re gonna go around, we’re gonna go under, we’re gonna go through it if we have to. So we’re gonna keep working hard and just keep putting our head down and let the chips fall where they may.”
That question came up again when Allen spoke with D.J. Siddiqi of ESports Insider, and Allen would be happy if people stopped with that line of questioning.
“Getting over that hump, it’s been the question. I hear it all the time. I’m getting a little tired of it. But the way to stop getting that question asked is to go out there and do it.”
Considering how often Allen is asked about the Chiefs, one might think he’d be reticent to talk about quarterback Patrick Mahomes. But that’s not the case.
In the ESports interview, Allen had high praise for Mahomes.
“He can extend plays with the best of them,” Allen said. “He’s got an absolute cannon for an arm. He sees things happen before they happen. Super smart. He works extremely hard, you know? And he’s won three of them (Super Bowls), so we can’t argue with the results.”
Allen also spoke glowingly of Mahomes for his skills away from the football field. Mahomes grew up playing basketball and baseball, and he’s also an avid golfer.
“He’s an extremely talented player,” Allen said of Mahomes. “He’s a heck of an athlete. You see him play some basketball, I’ve seen videos. I’ve played golf with him myself.
“He’s a great guy. I think guys love being around him in their locker room. That’s a trait that I think most quarterbacks need to have in order to be successful in this league.”
