Chiefs guard Trey Smith joined the New Heights podcast and shared a lot of laughs with co-hosts Travis and Jason Kelce.

Travis Kelce is a Chiefs teammate and Jason Kelce is a former Eagles center, so they have plenty in common, and it made for a fun discussion.

And Chiefs fans will love one topic in particular: Smith on his favorite block.

It came during a game against the Broncos when Smith left his feet and leveled former Denver safety Justin Simmons.

“First of all, great job o-laying the blitzer, getting flat to put yourself in a good position on the player in open space,” Jason Kelce said. “If you go down field right away, you’re gonna be way out front and this guy’s gonna cut you. You go flat and then man, leaving your feet. I mean, you can’t even do this on defense anymore. Leave your feet as a defender, that’s a personal foul. You can still do it as a guard.”

Travis Kelce said: “That’s electric.”

Smith gave credit to Chiefs offensive line coach Andy Heck.

“That’s one of my favorite plays,” Smith said. “Coach Heck, did a great job prepping us that week. And Creed (Humphrey) and I identified it. We saw it before it came up. We’re just like, ‘Hey, it’s coming up, let’s get it.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, this is game over.’ I saw Justin Simmons sort of plant his feet. I’m just thinking, ‘Bro, why are you sitting still?’ You try to ole, you go underneath, but he stood still like he was going to take it on. I was like, ‘Thank you.’ That was fire.”

The New Heights podcast shared a clip of the play, and there’s not a Chiefs fan who won’t love seeing Smith crush Simmons. It was a heck of a play by Smith, who is 6 foot 6 and 321 pounds (per the Chiefs website).
