Not just Christmas: Kansas City Chiefs land another holiday game — Thanksgiving
The Chiefs will be the NFL’s holiday team in 2025.
With a game already booked on Christmas, the Chiefs also will play on Thanksgiving, CBS announced Wednesday. They’ll play at the Dallas Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 27.
The Cowboys are a Thanksgiving regular. It will be the Chiefs’ first turkey day game since 2006 and is sure to draw a huge television audience. Last season’s New York Giants at Cowboys game on Thanksgiving drew 38.8 million viewers on Fox, the most watched regular-season game of 2024.
Three of the four most watched regular-season games in NFL history have involved the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
The game also will mark the first Chiefs appearance in Dallas since 2017, the rookie season of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who played high school football in nearby Whitehouse, Texas. Mahomes didn’t play in that game.
In his only appearance against Dallas, Mahomes defeated the Cowboys 19-9 in 2021 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
As for the other holiday game, the Chiefs will play the Denver Broncos at home on Christmas at 7:15 p.m. on Prime Video.
The NFL and Chiefs will release the entire 2024 regular-season schedule Wednesday, May 14, on NFL Network and ESPN2 at 7 p.m.
