Chiefs select this Tennessee defensive tackle with 2nd round pick. Here’s more
The Kansas City Chiefs used their second-round pick to add a player to their defensive interior.
With the 63rd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, KC selected Tennessee defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott, who also previously played three years at Arizona State.
“I’m incredibly blessed to be a part of the Chiefs Kingdom. So happy,” Norman-Lott said Friday night. “I’m so ready to get in the system and learn the system and just be a hell of a player for the Chiefs Kingdom.”
Norman-Lott, 23, ranked 34th on Pro Football Focus’ Big Board. PFF described the 6-5, 315-pound D-tackle as “an athletically gifted, undersized 3-technique who with better hand usage and pass-rush plans can be a contributing starter.”
Projections on Norman-Lott appeared to vary because of limited college playing time. He had just 225 defensive snaps for Tennessee in 2024 and 235 in 2023.
Chiefs senior director of player personnel Mike Bradway said the team was impressed by the “unique explosion” Norman-Lott has off the ball. The team also observed a well-conditioned athlete with a good frame, characterized by 11-inch hands and 34-inch arms.
“We envision him being a really productive rotational guy,” Bradway said.
Norman-Lott said Friday that he had a top-30 visit with the Chiefs and also a subsequent Zoom call. He enjoyed his conversations then with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
“It’s Steve Spagnuolo, man. He’s the head man. He draws up what’s about to go down on the field. So I love him and appreciate him to death — Andy Reid, too — for making me a part of this organization,” Norman-Lott said. “Shoutout to the Chiefs Kingdom. I’m ready to just go get after it and go hunt some quarterbacks down and make some plays in the backfield.”
While at Arizona State, Norman-Lott was a college teammate of Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, the second overall pick in last year’s draft. Norman-Lott also worked a part-time job then as a bouncer in a bar for extra money.
“That was a good experience, man, early in college,” Norman-Lott said. “And it wasn’t a lifestyle that was conducive to me making it to where I’m at today. So I had to make a change. But that experience within itself was amazing. It taught me a lot in how to handle situations and deescalate first in all situations.”
Norman-Lott was 142nd on ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s final board and was not listed among NFL.com writer Daniel Jeremiah’s top 150 prospects.
When describing himself as a pass-rusher, Norman-Lott used two adjectives: “relentless” and “unforgiving.”
“I’m so happy and coming in with an open mind and ready to learn and get my playbook down,” Norman-Lott said. “Just blessed to be a part of a Super Bowl team like this, and ready to go get a ring.”
