President Donald Trump on Sunday became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl when arrived at the Caesars Superdome roughly an hour before the Kansas City Chiefs were set to face the Philadelphia Eagles.

President Trump went down to the field as the teams were going through pregame workouts. He shook hands with some people on the sideline and waved to others in the stands.

He also posed for photos with members of law enforcement.

During the playing of the national anthem, the president was cheered when he was shown on the Superdome videoboard.

President Trump met with Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi, along with her kids, son Jackson, and daughter, Mia, during the first half of the game.

Earlier in the week, the president was asked who he thought would win the game, and he mentioned Mahomes without saying his name.

“I don’t want to say,” he said in the Oval Office on Tuesday, “but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner.”

This wasn’t President Trump’s first time at the Superdome for a football game. In 2020, he attended the college football national championship. LSU thumped Clemson that day.

Former First Lady Jill Biden was at Sunday’s game in New Orleans, too
