Creed Humphrey has a new nickname — “Chief of Outlaw Nation” — and with it a new job.

The Kansas City Chiefs center is now a strategic partner of the Kansas City Outlaws professional bull-riding team. He is their “Official Fan Ambassador,” according to a news release provided to The Star.

Humphrey will be featured in the Outlaws’ forthcoming brand campaigns on traditional and social media. Promotions featuring Humphrey were taped during the Outlaws’ training camp in late June, as he fraternized with the team and received “an immersive bull-riding experience,” according to the release.

Humphrey will also be featured prominently at “Outlaw Days,” the organization’s second annual homestand from Aug. 3-5 at T-Mobile Center. He’ll be responsible for hyping up fans with chants and cheering on the Outlaws.

”I am excited to become the first Official Fan Ambassador for the Kansas City Outlaws of PBR Teams,” Humphrey said in the release. “As an offensive lineman, we bring the grit, power, and attitude to the team — just like this organization. As the Chief of Outlaw Nation, I look forward to continuing to bring excitement and championships to Kansas City.”

The Outlaws participate in the Professional Bull Riding Team Series, which turns a primarily individual sport into team competition.

Outlaws coaches J.W. Hart and Guilherme Marchi are in PBR’s Ring of Honor while Missourian riders Bob Mitchell (Steelville) and Koltin Hevalow (Smithville) are touted as up-and-coming talents.

The 2023 PBR Team Series begins July 24-25 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. All seven of the opposing teams in the league will be in Kansas City for Outlaw Days.

As a gesture of gratitude for Humphrey’s partnership, the Outlaws will be renaming one of PBR’s top bucking bulls in his honor.

“The Kansas City Outlaws couldn’t be more excited to enter into this unique partnership with Creed Humphrey, whose dedication and commitment to his sport, work ethic and grit seen daily on the gridiron naturally align with our team’s ethos,” Outlaws general manager Jim Smith said in the release.

“As we continue to grow our fandom,” Smith continued, “he will be an outstanding ambassador to help spread the Outlaw mantra across Kansas City and the nation.

“Humphrey was a key force in bringing the Vince Lombardi Trophy back to Kansas City in 2023, and as we welcome him into our fold as a honorary member of the Kansas City Outlaws, we hope to follow in his footsteps and bring a PBR Team Series Championship back to the city this October.”

Tickets for Outlaw Days, starting at $20, are on sale now at AXS.com, PBR.com and t-mobilecenter.com.
