Ekow Boye-Doe was not selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, but that hasn’t stopped him from catching on with a professional team.

The former Kansas State cornerback signed a free-agent deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, according to a social media post from his agent.

The Chiefs showed interest in Boye-Doe shortly after he went undrafted by inviting him to try out for a roster spot at their rookie minicamp last week. He played well enough there to merit a contract and spot on the team’s 90-man roster heading into summer training camp.

He originally planned to attend other minicamps across the league and weigh his options with other teams, but that is no longer necessary. He has found a home with the Chiefs.

Boye-Doe, who grew up in Lawrence before attending Kansas State, has unmistakable upside because of his speed. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds at his pro day and he was one of the fastest players on his college team for four straight seasons.

Once he became a starting cornerback as a sophomore in 2020, Boye-Doe became a staple on K-State’s defense. He was on the field for just about every play for the next three seasons and finished his college career with 74 tackles and 13 passes defended.

The 6-foot and 170-pound defensive back had one year of college eligibility remaining, but he decided to leave for the NFL because he thought he was ready to play at the next level.

Despite going undrafted, he will now get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Chiefs this summer.
