Kansas City Chiefs

What the Vegas odds say about the Kansas City Chiefs-Cincinnati Bengals game Sunday

For nearly a full year dating back to 2020, the Chiefs ranked as one of the least profitable bets in Las Vegas.

Yes, really. A team with back-to-back Super Bowl appearances went a stretch of 17 regular season games in which it covered the spread all of three times.

But now?

There’s nobody better.

As the Chiefs have emerged from an early-season skid, they’ve been quite good to their advocates at the sportsbooks. They have covered the spread in six straight games.

So it stands to reason that despite playing on the road against the first-place Bengals on Sunday, the Chiefs are still adequate favorites at 5 points.

The Bengals have not been this large of an underdog since a Week 7 trip to Baltimore. But the Chiefs’ recent run merits the number. They have won eight straight games, and they’re not only covering the line, they’re often doing so comfortably.

On the betting sheet, they have come a long way. The Chiefs were 2-7 against the spread in their first nine games this year, and that’s after they finished the back half of the 2020 regular season 1-7.

Of note for this week: The Bengals are 8-7 against the spread this season, covering the line in four of their past six.

The over/under for Sunday’s game at Paul Brown Stadium is 51 points, tied for the highest mark in the league this week. The Cardinals-Cowboys matchup is also 51 points. Eight of the 15 Chiefs games this season have hit the over. Seven Bengals games have surpassed the over.
