L’Jarius Sneed thanks Kansas City Chiefs fans for support after his brother’s death
Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed released a statement Wednesday expressing gratitude toward for the support he received after his brother was stabbed and killed last weekend.
Sneed missed the Chiefs’ game Sunday against the Raiders in Kansas City, instead back home with his family in Minden, Louisiana, where his oldest brother, TQ Harrison, died. Inside Arrowhead Stadium, as Sneed’s teammates declared, “Play for L’Jarius,” fans held up signs showing their care, as well.
On Wednesday, Sneed released a statement to The Star through his agent, Safarrah Lawson.
“I would like to thank everyone, especially the fans and the Kansas City Chiefs organization, for all the love and support they have given me the past few days during such a trying time,” Sneed’s statement reads. “It means so much to me. We deeply appreciate everything you are doing to help us get through this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers mean so much to me. Thank you.”
Sneed re-joined the Chiefs on Tuesday, ahead of the team’s trip to Los Angeles to face the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
His teammates and coaches have mentioned him often during news conferences the past few days.
“He actually texted me. He told me he loved me. For me, that was really all I needed to hear,” safety Tyrann Mathieu said. “Obviously I think he’s dealing with a lot right now, but football means a lot to him. It means a lot to his family. I feel like, in my opinion, with the things that I went through, I think he has some motivation going forward.”
