Kansas City Chiefs

Chiefs release full 2020 preseason schedule. Here are the details

The Chiefs first game as the defending Super Bowl champions will arrive in three months.

Pending the coronavirus fallout, of course.

The Chiefs released their preseason schedule on Friday, and it commences with a home date against the Bengals on Aug. 15. Kickoff is 7 p.m. That will mark No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow’s first game in an NFL uniform.

After opening at home, the Chiefs will make trips to Arizona on Aug. 22 and Dallas a week later on Aug. 29 before closing out at home against Green Bay on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.

The league previously released every team’s regular season schedule last week. The Chiefs and Texans will kick off the NFL slate with a stand-alone Thursday Night Football opener on Sept. 10 at Arrowhead Stadium.

That’s the hope. Team officials have acknowledged the uncertainty around the season because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has wiped out sporting events across the world.

Commissioner Roger Goodell sent teams a memo on Friday that they could reopen club facilities on Tuesday under a wide-range of restrictions, so long as it meets the criteria of their local government agencies, according to an ESPN report. Coaches and players cannot be present, unless players are receiving treatment or rehabbing.

Aug. 22: at Arizona, 8 p.m.

Aug. 29: at Dallas, 7 p.m.
