Travis Kelce offered his thoughts after seeing design of Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV rings
June is usually a slow month for news in the NFL, except for one big announcement that comes annually:
A first look at the Super Bowl champion’s rings.
The coronavirus has scrambled the sports schedule, but if history is a guide, Chiefs fans should be just weeks away from getting a glimpse at the bling Patrick Mahomes, Tyrann Mathieu, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and the other champions will be receiving.
Kelce, however, has had a sneak peek of the rings.
Last week, Kelce joined Charissa Thompson, Erin Andrews and Peter Schrager on “Fox Football Now,” and was asked if he’d seen the ring design and/or asked to give his input.
“I was very fortunate that I got asked to just peek at it and give my thoughts,” Kelce told Andrews. “I feel like anything would be appreciated at this point. You know, you just want to have the hardware, to reminisce and, you know what I mean, put a ring on your finger like you’ve always wanted to in life.
“Sure enough, just to see it on paper, I can only imagine how beautiful it’s going to look in person.”
Thompson asked Kelce about the cashmere leopard sweater he was wearing, and Kelce coined a great phrase for people staying at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s a 62 and sunny day in Kansas City right now. So it’s perfect: light but still keep the wind off you. It’s very nice. It’s comfortable,” Kelce said. “It’s cozy. It’s quarantine cozy. That’s my mentality right now: quarantine cozy.”
That’s the goal for most of us these days.
Here is a clip of Kelce’s appearance:
