Video from bystander shows officer pull gun on Chiefs’ Bashaud Breeland during arrest
TMZ obtained video of the arrest of Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland on Tuesday in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
A police report about the arrest said “three males smoking marijuana” were seen outside a Gate gas station. The video shows a York County Sheriff’s Office deputy talking with Breeland, whose car was at a gas pump.
Breeland attempted to open the car door as the deputy repeatedly told Breeland to get on the ground, which he didn’t do at first. Breeland then tried to signal to someone who is not visible in the video.
After Breeland appeared to allow himself to have handcuffs placed on him, he turned away as an unknown woman approached. She was wearing a T-shirt that had the name of the gas station.
Breeland then opened the car and sat in the driver’s seat and the officer pulled his weapon. Breeland stepped out and raised his hands before sitting on the ground.

Breeland was charged by the York County Sheriff’s Office with resisting arrest; transporting alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken; having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle; possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash; and driving without a license.
“Mr. Breeland was leaving a gas station store after making a lawful purchase,” Breeland’s attorneys said in a statement. “Moments after returning to his vehicle, a 2020 Range Rover with valid temporary paper tags, law enforcement officers approached Mr. Breeland and drew their weapons. We look forward to investigating why this level of force was necessary.”
