Patrick Mahomes’ foundation donates WiFi hotspots to Hickman Mills students in KC

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to make a mark in the Kansas City-area community though his charitable organization, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.

Mahomes recently made a donation to Hickman Mills School District so WiFi hotspots could be purchased for students without Internet access, district officials announced Wednesday in a news release.

Thanks to Mahomes’ donation, students are now capable of participating in virtual-learning sessions with teachers and classmates as schools across the Kansas City metro remain closed because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

“Our favorite quarterback and the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation are truly making a difference in the lives of students,” the HCM-1 district said in the news release.

Mahomes began his foundation in April 2019 and has quickly made an impact in the greater Kansas City area.

In November, Mahomes’ inaugural charitable gala raised more than $600,000 and the organization donated $225,000 to 15 local charities. Mahomes’ foundation also partnered with the KC Pet Project and sent families to a Chiefs home game, among other endeavors in the past year.

According to its website, the “15 and the Mahomies is dedicated to improving the lives of children. The Foundation will support initiatives that focus on health, wellness, communities in need of resources and other charitable causes.”

Programs include supporting “15 youth charitable initiatives that focus on academics, science, the arts, classroom supplies, athletics, children with disabilities, after-school programs and more.”
