Chiefs prediction: With playoff seeding on the line, Chiefs stay motivated vs. L.A.
The Chiefs are all-in for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. No resting starters, Andy Reid has said.
The approach is based on the different seeding possibilities still at stake: The Chiefs can be the second, third or fourth seed depending on the outcome of their game and two others: Dolphins at Patriots at noon and Titans at Texans at 3:25 p.m.
A No. 3 seed is most likely for KC, but if the Chiefs win and the Patriots lose, Kansas City would become a second seed and own a first-round bye.
Kickoff: noon
TV/radio: CBS (Ch. 5), KCFX (101.1 FM)
Line: Chiefs by 9
Blair Kerkhoff’s prediction: Chiefs 30-13
The Chargers (5-10) limp to the finish line in what could be Philip Rivers’ final game in a Bolts uniform. And the Chiefs have won 10 of the last 11. But it’s not often easy for the Chiefs in this matchup. They needed Daniel Sorensen’s interception in the final minute to preserve a triumph in Mexico City last month. The Chargers won at Arrowhead last year, one of three victories by an AFC West team against the Chiefs in the last five seasons. But the Chargers are meeting a hot team that has been outstanding on defense lately, surrendering an NFL-best 9.6 points per game since Week 11. Look for the Chiefs win their 12th regular-0season game in successive seasons for the first time in team history.
