Timberwolves’ Wiggins lands spot on NBA All-Rookie team

Kansas was represented on the NBA All-Rookie team announced Monday.

The Timberwolves’ Andrew Wiggins, a former All-Big 12 selection who was earlier chosen as NBA Rookie of the Year, was named to the team.

Wiggins led NBA rookies with a 16.9 scoring average.

Wiggins became the first former Kansas player selected as Rookie of the Year since Wilt Chamberlain in 1960. The NBA started selecting an all-rookie team in 1962-63.

Also on the all-rookie team were the Lakers’ Jordan Clarkson, who averaged 11.9 poitns in 59 games, Bulls’ Nikola Mirotic, Elfrid Payton of the Magic and the 76ers’ Nerlens Noel.

Former Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart was a member of the second team.
