Rain has postponed the opener of the Royals’ three-game series against the Boston Red Sox, scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Monday at Kauffman Stadium.
Tuesday’s 7:15 p.m. Royals-Red Sox game will be played as scheduled and there will be a split doubleheader Wednesday starting with an originally scheduled game at 1:15 p.m. followed by the makeup game at 7:15 p.m. The stands will be cleared between games with the gates for the night game opening at 6 p.m. Both games will air on Fox Sports Kansas City.
Yordano Ventura, scheduled to start Monday for the Royals, will start Tuesday’s game and Ian Kennedy and Edinson Volquez will start Wednesday’s games. The order for Wednesday’s pitchers hasn’t been determined.
According to the Royals, ticket-holders for Monday’s game can use the value of their ticket as a voucher toward any future regular-season Royals game this season. Single-game ticket exchanges can be made at the Kauffman Stadium box office, which opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and remains open though the seventh inning of that night’s game. All exchanges must be completed by 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Full or half season-ticket members must exchange their tickets using their My Royals account and partial season-ticket plan holders should call 816-504-4040, option 3, or email email@example.com.
The latest National Weather Service forecast calls for an additional 1-2 inches of rain through Tuesday afternoon, partly cloudy conditions and a low of 47 on Tuesday night, and partly sunny weather Wednesday with a high of 66 and low of 49.
The Royals are off Thursday before heading to Chicago for a three-game series against the White Sox starting Friday.
