  • Royals.TV posted a tongue-in-cheek non-apology about Erceg's postgame curse.
  • MLB-run Royals.TV posted on social media saying 'no notes' about the broadcast.
  • World Series champ Eric Hosmer posted an enthusiastic reaction to Erceg on X.

Royals.TV seemed to take the unusual step of apologizing for something that happened following a game this weekend.

But it actually was more of a tongue-in-cheek admission that Royals relief pitcher Lucas Erceg cursed Saturday during a televised postgame interview with Joel Goldberg.

“Sorry if I’m stuttering,” Erceg said to Goldberg after getting the save in the Royals’ 3-2 win in Seattle. “My adrenaline is through the freakin’ roof right now and I (enthusiastically) love (this stuff).”

As you might have guessed, Erceg dropped a couple of curse words in there, and if you want to see and hear exactly what was said, the video is readily available online.

On Sunday morning, Royals.TV shared a social-media post about Erceg’s fired-up response: “We’re aware of the colorful language at the end of last night’s broadcast. We wanted to take this opportunity to assure fans, he kinda said it best ... no notes.”

Royals.TV is run by Major League Baseball, so you could say that non-apology was league-sanctioned.

Just as they loved Erceg’s excited response in the postgame interview, fans liked the response from Royals television.

That includes a World Series champion. Royals broadcaster Eric Hosmer summed up the fan response to that Erceg foul-mouthed slip-up.

“Lucas Erceg has me looking for a brick wall to run straight through! I’d love an XL when the t-shirts are made,” Hosmer wrote on X.

The replies to Hosmer’s message include a proposed shirt with team photographer Jason Hanna’s epic photo of Erceg from last month and the curse words. There was also a mock baseball card.

Royals.TV rolled the dice following Sunday’s 4-1 win over the Mariners and had reliever Daniel Lynch IV talk with Goldberg.

It was a much tamer chat, but some noted Lynch had a mild curse word in his interview.
