Bobby Witt Jr. delivered the big hit Tuesday night for the Royals in their 4-1 win over the Athletics in 10 innings, and he also showed off his athleticism in a postgame interview.

Witt’s three-run home run in the 10th inning pushed the Royals’ win streak to four games, and he was the person Royals.TV sideline reporter Joel Goldberg wanted to speak with.

Goldberg has been part of the Royals television crew since 2008, so he knows the pitfalls of the postgame interview. He’s been soaked during the celebratory Salvy Splash at least 500 times. Math was never my greatest subject, but that’s my calculation.

That’s why Goldberg knew what was coming Tuesday night in West Sacramento, California. Sure enough, Perez came to douse Witt, who also was aware of the postgame tradition.

As the water was exiting the cooler, Witt got out of the way. So did Goldberg. But not Theresa.

That’s the hame of a security guard, who unfortunately took the brunt of the Salvy Splash. She didn’t mind and used the opportunity to shake hands with one of the best players on the planet, Witt.

“I heard those footsteps coming,” Witt said. “He’s feeling good right now. He’s got mucho power.”

This was a fun moment from the game.
