Jac Caglianone’s first Triple-A homer has connection to Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr.
Royals top prospect Jac Caglianone didn’t have much time to admire his first home run since being promoted to Triple-A Omaha.
That’s a good thing.
Caglianone crushed a 410-foot home run off Salt Lake’s Dakota Hudson on Thursday night. The ball had an exit velocity of 113.6 mph.
Hudson is a former 16-game winner with the St. Louis Cardinals and he pitched in the majors for seven seasons.
That’s a nice segue to a note from Ian Kraft, the Royals’ assistant director of media relations. He noted that Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.’s first home run in the majors was off ... Hudson.
Caglianone’s blast was the first of three consecutive homers by the Storm Chasers in the sixth inning on Thursday night.
Shortstop Cam Devanney followed with a round-tripper (and he did it for the third straight game). Left fielder MJ Melendez then stepped to the plate and made it three straight home runs off Hudson.
