There will be a new way to watch the Kansas City Royals this season.

On Tuesday, the Royals announced a partnership with Gray Media to simulcast 10 Sunday games on local broadcast CBS-affiliates KCTV5 and KSMO (MyNetwork).

The Royals said all 10 games will be available on either KCTV5 or KSMO. It’s possible that both networks simulcast concurrently depending on the matchup. The club will announce the selected games at a later date.

Fans will be able to catch all 10 selected games on KSMO. KCTV5 is expected to simulcast at least six games. Both networks create an avenue for nearly 7 million households to view the Royals this season.

“Sharing our games, highlighting our world-class athletes, and telling our story to as many people as possible is a top priority for us,” Royals president of business operations Brooks Sherman said in a news release. “This agreement gives our fans the power to watch however they want, whether that’s on cable, streaming, or local TV. We are thrilled to partner with Gray Media, and know their experience and expertise will be beneficial for both the Royals and our fans.”

The Royals recently agreed to a short-term deal to remain with Diamond Sports and the rebranded FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City. Games will be available in the KC market and on the FanDuel Sports Network app.

Fans will be able to use DirectTV, Spectrum and Xfinity among others to watch Royals games during the 2025 season. There is an option to use the FanDuel Sports Network app and Amazon Prime Video to avoid regional blackouts.

Both of those services require an add-on subscription.

The addition of Royals simulcasts will allow fans to watch games over broadcast airwaves similar to how Kansas City Chiefs preseason games are shown in the local market on KSHB 41 and 38 The Spot KCMI.

Gray Media reaches audiences in Missouri and Kansas. It also stretches into Iowa, Nebraska and Arkansas.

“We are trying to find a way to put those games out there,” Royals owner John Sherman said. “(It’s) kind of the old way people used to watch our games, right?”

The Royals open the 2025 regular season against the Cleveland Guardians on March 27. The club will look to build off an 86-win campaign and playoff berth in 2024.
