Filmmaker says SungWoo Lee will return to KC for the World Series

A movement to bring SungWoo Lee back to Kansas City for the World Series appears to be successful.

Lee, an ardent Royals fan who lives in South Korea, made his first trip to Kauffman Stadium in August. During his visit to Kansas City, Lee became a celebrity as he visited all parts of the area. Lee threw out the first pitch at a Royals game and placed the ‘W’ sign up at Kauffman Stadium after a victory.

Filmmaker Josh Swade, who is in South Korea, said on his Twitter account that Lee would be at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday for Game 1. Swade had said he planned to meet with Lee’s employer in an effort to allow him the time off.

Chris Kamler wrote on the Pine Tar Press blog that he and others were asking fans to tweet the hashtag #BringBackSungWoo, so that people in South Korea would be inclined to let Lee return.

“Would the Royals be in the Series if SungWoo hadn’t visited this summer?” Swade asked in a news release. “We cannot scientifically prove otherwise. Therefore, every Royals fan — whether you’re die-hard or bandwagon — must join together in this fateful moment to bring back SungWoo for the Fall Classic. Let us raise every voice and sing.”
