Royals present photo and jersey to musician Lorde
Well, you knew this was coming, right?
Teen music sensation Lorde was in Kansas City on Friday for a concert at the Midland. You know Lorde, right?
She won a Grammy Award for the song “Royals,” which she said was was inspired by a photo of George Brett in an issue of National Geographic from the 1970s.
Lorde told VH1 earlier this year: “I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs. He was a baseball player and his shirt said ‘Royals.’ ”
Yep, the story has been told countless times now.
Anyway, that dude (Brett) signed a copy of the photo that spawned a hit, and the Royals gave that to Lorde along with a Brett jersey, which she donned for one of the pictures the Royals tweeted on Friday night.
