Hill City ends Hoxie girls’ record streak of 107 victories
Hoxie’s state record of 107 consecutive girls basketball victories ended Tuesday night at the hands of rival Hill City.
Visiting Hill City (10-1) beat Hoxie 53-48 in overtime. It was Hoxie’s first loss since the 2011-12 season, and the Indians have since won four state championships.
Lexie McDowell had 19 points to lead Hill City (10-1), which led in the first quarter only to see Hoxie take a 23-22 halftime lead.
Hoxie led 31-26 midway through the third quarter before Hill City later went on a 5-0 to take the lead.
Tied at 44-44, Hill City missed a last shot to end regulation, but scored the last five points of overtime.
