St. John boys’ state-record 63-game win streak ended by rival Central Plains
A rematch of last season’s Class 2A championship game ended with the loser getting revenge, and ending Kansas’ boys basketball record winning streak in the process.
Central Plains ended St. John’s 63-game streak with a 55-48 victory at St. John on Tuesday night. Michael Ryan scored 21 points and Alex Barton had 11 for Central Plains.
St. John, which broke the record last week to end Wichita Heights’ record at 62, was led by Jorge Calleros’ 18 points and Cole Kinnamon’s 14.
Central Plains led 26-18 at halftime and hunt on in the fourth quarter. The teams are in the same Class 2A sub-state this season.
