Chace Beckham

Rose Hill

Senior forward

Chace Beckham was a workhorse for Rose Hill, which won its second straight 4-1A title. Beckham scored two goals in the championship. He had 43 goals and 13 assists, finishing his career with 69 and 30. Beckham’s vision, speed and playmaking ability made him a difficult matchup.

“Chace was one of our four captains this year voted on by the players,” coach Jerry Treat said. “They demanded that everybody puts out the same work ethic that they do, that’s what made our team successful.”

Chance Beckham

Rose Hill

Senior midfielder

Chance Beckham helped guide Rose Hill (20-0-1) to consecutive 4-1A state titles. Beckham racked up 16 goals and 14 assists. In his career he has 38 goals, 37 assists. During the past two seasons, Rose Hill 40-1-1

“Chance was willing to go back deep into the midfield and do a lot of the harder work,” Treat said. “While his brother (Chace) played up top and scored a lot of the goals.”

Christian Dell

Andover

Senior defender

Dell held up the back line for the Trojans. He was a key part in the Trojans’finishing third in 5A. Dell’s speed and soccer mind were key in shutting down opponents.

“Christian had a great season for us,” coach Chris Lemons said. “He worked hard each and every practice and was able to pay it off in the games. He was a leader for us and helped our defense in the back and was a big part to our third-place finish.”

Angel Gil

North

Senior defender

Gil was the heart and soul of the Redskins’ defense. He used his senior leadership and anticipation to read the moves of the offensive players then jump in front and steal the ball.

“Angel times his defensive moves perfectly,” coach Curt Wullschleger said. “He times his runs with precision and patience. He’s a ‘yes sir, no sir’ type of guy, which made him a pleasure to coach.”

Zack Goodman

Carroll

Senior goalkeeper

Goodman’s seven City League wins helped the Eagles win the league outright for the first time in the program’s 29 seasons. Goodman had two shutouts in league play and allowed 13 goals as Carroll (12-3-2) advanced to the Class 5A regional final.

“He leads as one of our captains by his example and effort,” coach Mike Skaggs said. “He is a great teammate and hard worker.”

Daniel Masterson

Kapaun

Senior defender

Masterson was the master on defense for the Crusaders. He caused havoc when opposing teams tried to make a run. Masterson was a smart and tough defender, able to find the open man and shut him down.

“He was also undoubtedly our best leader this year in the midst of tremendous adversity which included the death of his own father shortly after the loss of coach (Alan) Shepherd,” Kapaun coach Anthony Cantele said.

Emery May

Trinity Academy

Senior midfielder

When you ask for a hard-nosed player on the soccer field, May is your guy. May was all over the field for the Knights (14-5-2), who finished third in Class 4-1A. He led the Knights with 31 goals and 17 assists using his speed, athleticism and soccer IQ. He was injured in the 4-1A semifinal.

“Emery has been a great leader on and off the field,” Trinity coach Mark Brooks said. “He gave us a lot of confidence and was someone all the guys looked up to.”

Preston Mboob

Northwest

Senior forward

Mboob (6-foot-1) led the offensive attack for the Grizzlies. He had 18 goals and 7 assists. Mboob’s size was an advantage, making him difficult to stop.

“Preston became a powerful and explosive player for us this year,” coach Bobby Bribiesca said. “His offseason workouts in developing his skills really paid off this season, his play improved a lot.”

Sami Sabrah

North

Senior midfielder

Sabrah helped lead a balanced North offense. He had 10 goals and eight assists, including three game-winning goals. Sabrah was key in leading the Redskins to the 6A quarterfinals.

“Sami has been a great leader for us,” Wullschleger said. “He’s a vocal leader both in practice and during games. The boys really respect his abilities and experience.”

Alan Sanchez

Maize

Senior forward

Sanchez helped guide the Eagles with 19 goals and 19 assists. He has 62 career goals and 39 assists. He was able to use his quickness and vision as he led Maize to the quarterfinals.

“He’s a dynamic goal scorer because of his skill and quick release on his shot,” Maize coach Jay Holmes said. “He was so hard to stop when he was in a one-on-one opportunity, he usually found another guy or put it in himself.”

Thomas Wells

Kapaun

Junior forward

Wells led the Crusaders (10-6-1) in goals (21) and assists (13). He used his speed and athleticism to cause problems for opponents, and winning a lot of one-on-one battles.

“I loved how he always worked hard to win the ball back in our attacking third when we lost it,” Cantele said.

Jerry Treat

Rose Hill

Coach

Treat guided the Rockets to back-to-back 4-1A titles after beating DeSoto. Treat has taken his teams to the championship game three straight seasons with a combined record of 55-5-3.
