Carroll beats Southeast 47-14 (+videos)
Bishop Carroll football coach Alan Schuckman has the luxury of having 94 players suited up Friday night, and he made good use of them on Friday night in the Golden Eagles 47-14 win over Southeast at Carpenter Stadium.
“That’s what our program is about, it’s not about just the guys playing on Friday,” Schuckman said. “We worked all week about getting multiple people in the game, and our kids did a good job of executing early, and we were able to use them all. This is about developing all the players on our football team.”
Carroll scored on five of its six first-half drives. Adam Theis found the end zone from three yards out to give Carroll a 7-0 lead. The ensuing kickoff was downed at the Southeast 1-yard line, and one play later the Eagles made it 9-0 with a safety.
“That safety was huge for us, we jump up 9-0 and the momentum was rolling,” Schuckman said. “I felt offensively our first team unit could do about anything they needed to do to be productive.”
Theis led the way with 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. Jake Allen added a rushing touchdown early in the third quarter, and Carroll’s starters took the rest of the night off. Second string quarterback Cannon Lynch came into the game and ran for 83 yards on six carries. Carroll piled up nearly 400 yards of offense.
“I feel really good about my performance tonight,” Theis said. “My offensive line did a really good job, they did what we worked on in practice all week.”
Carroll intercepted Southeast quarterback Tyrik Adkins three times, and didn’t allow the Buffaloes to really get anything going offensively until the second half.
“This week is going to be a tough week, the next three weeks are important… district play is important,” Schuckman said.
